Summary
Reporting to the Lead Hand - Steel Door Assembly you will be responsible for assembling steel doors and ensuring that the product meets customer and/or company requirements. You shall ensure that all product meets and/or exceeds the quality expectations of the customer and/or company.
Responsibilities

Order Processing

  • Review production schedule, including special instructions

Assembly

  • Retrieve top and bottom sheet of door from door line
  • Place stile and rails into proper positions
  • Lock/compress rails, stile and door together
  • Knowledge of assembly process
  • Perform repairs to defects as required

Housekeeping

  • Keep work area clean
  • Maintain a safe workplace

Visual Quality Control Inspections

  • Inspect top/bottom notches
  • Inspect surface finish for scratches, dents, etc
  • Inspect bore specifications
  • Inspect hinge specificationsInspect colour
  • Inspect pattern
  • Knowledge of quality criteria
  • Identify product defects and stop production as necessaryAdvise Lead Hand and/or Plant Manager of quality issues

Production Reporting

  • Record scrapped product

Line Set-up and Shutdown

  • Assist Lead Hand with line set up and shutdown
  • Ensure raw material is shaped according to order requirements
Years of Experience

Door Industry experience is an asset.

Education

High school diploma

Required Skills and Knowledge

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilograms.
